How many of last years squad have you still got? Because that’s your best way out surely. Because your signings this year have been proper bobbar. And some.

We still have the majority of last year's squad still. The problem is we was saying that squad needed refreshing to stand a chance, we can't rely on them all season if we're going to get out of it. Needs the new players to step up aswell which so far they haven't

Downloaded yesterday's 'Praise & Grumble' from BBC Sounds & had a listen.  Around 35 mins in, a Wednesdayite called the programme & said he spoke to DC at Hillsborough yesterday & got to ask him a few questions about how much money DC / the club had lost over his years in charge? Who is advising DC on football matters & has it been the same set of advisors for that period?  (It has been).  Why doesn't he get rid of them & simply appoint a Director of Football instead?

The Wednesday fan basically said all he received for every question was a rant from DC each time.  One telling thing that DC said was that it's HIS club & HIS money.

Wel a scrappy low quality game, Wednesday at last stopped trying to play from the back, although it was two Dawson errors on balls into the box that almost was our undoing. Wednesday huffed and puffed with a side that was mostly the one that got promoted, but therers a glaring lack of goals AND pace in the side, and quite clearly some of that squad were going to struggle in a division above, the very reason they were on the bench at their previous clubs and theres very little by way of the required quality available from the new intake and any new manager is going to be up against these issues. Best he can do is get them better organised and hit sides on the break and hope we get a few breaks, but its a tall order.

A well run club would have seen the weaknesses in last season's side and improved in those positions, we just seem to have bought a rag tag bunch of 2nd rate players who were no better than what we had.

He does have a director of football of sorts, Luke Dowling, this guys reputation is shocking, at Watford he was kept well away from any major activity mostly assigned to youth recruitment and the manager eventually got rid of him.

At West brom he was houded out of the club after the entire  youth team set up left in protest, and moved to aston villa, any baggies fan will tell you, they are still recovering from the mess Dowling left behind.

And this guy is our technical director, Ive no idea what his breif is but it doesnt look like hes involved with the kids, so our last remaing  2 scouts must be assigned to youth recruitment, and LD will be working on 1st team affairs.

Advisor lead recruiments pretty old hat, the better clubs do it all in house due to the many pitfalls, not least that advisors move in small circles and are very clicky, they basically keep each other in well paid jobs. But

its cheaper in the short term, the downside is, you get scant information about player backgrounds and history, its russian roulette, your finding out about the player on the training ground, which explains our poor injury  record, a club scout would include that in a players history,

Paxo has a lot of foreign advisor connections from his days at Doyen, hes also involved in sports finance and Chansiri is a customer.

Im sure DC is a great guy and we all hoped hed see his vision materialise, alas its come to pass that it wasnt meant to be, and hes become entrenched and dug his heels in, his gamble didnt pay off, and now hes looking and sounding like someone whose totally out of his depth in the  football world and its the club and its supporters that are suffering with each poor decision compounding the last.

It really is time he found us a credible owner and strikes a deal for himslef and his family and for SWFC.

Hang on..

We actually have scouts?

I was listening to an interview with the sporting director for Wolves and it was so interesting, he was explaining how they do their  recruitment, look into the players background, would they fit into the culture at Wolves, their willingness to learn English etc etc.... Basically the complete opposite of what we seem to do.
