The Yom Kippur War .

It seems Egypt is taking a back seat in all of this when they could have done much more earlier in the conflict to help save the lives of thousands of Palestinians by completely opening the Rafah boarder point and allowing the people to take temporary shelter and aid there. The bottleneck of aid trucks being allowed in is making the situation worse so allow the people to get to the aid in Egypt.
The New Gaza like Ukraine is going to have to be built with cash from the destructive participants and completely rebuilt with modern infrastructure. This could take a generation to complete so the civilians will have to be housed somewhere for a very long time until they can return.

As you’ll know, the Rafah crossing is between Gaza and Sinai. The Egyptians have been fighting armed terrorist groups, including ISIL/ISIS, operating in the Sinai Peninsula for around a decade. This has largely taken place out of the public gaze as outside observers, including journalists, have been barred from the area.

Sinai itself is not an empty desert but home to Bedouin tribes and, since the mass expulsions following Israel’s creation in 1948, a large number of Palestinians who already make up a third of the population.

Egypt’s reticence at opening up the Sinai to a large number of new refugees is therefor unsurprising I think.

But isn't Netanyahu agreeing to hostage trades?

Are you another one who wants to pander and negotiate because otherwise it might breed more terrorists?

The barbaric monsters just love folk with that attitude.

Negotiate is the only way forward and the sooner the better.

Yes I am “another one” together with countless Jews and countless Palestinians and a host of neighbouring and distant countries.

By all means try to defeat terrorism but as the IRA used to say, they only have to get “lucky “ once.

So you don’t defeat it you guard against it....something that Netanyahu and the Israeli intelligence failed to do.

The Israeli's have killed far more over the last 75 years than the terrorists ever have.

The Israeli's also started the killing FIRST

You don't have a clue what you're talking about but anyway,  you are a terrorists supporter.

Facts are facts and the socialist workers party are no bigger liars than the Israeli government.

Whilst our government are bigger liars than the pair of them.

I don't care whether you take my comments seriously or not. They are there and you now know the truth even if you won't admit it

Israel were the first terrorists in Palestine.

One man’s terrorist is another man’s patriot, a dead Israeli child is no different to a dead Palestinian child. Israel has nuclear warheads Palestine has none, the former’s usage of their stock in this war is (thank God) impossible, without American consent. Israel has a legitimately elected government, unlike Palestine, which tells me that the likes of Egypt should be putting pressure on Hamas to stand down, after all it’s not an easy job to justify attacking a defensive less opponent.

I agree with those sentiments.

I'm glad a further cease fire has been agreed and that commentators this morning,  are finally saying the kind of things that I have been saying right from day one.

The  only solution must be and has to be  a peaceful one,  as we achieved in Northern Ireland,   overseen by an International group  and Israel will have to stick to it's lawful promises.

The world must be mad to allow all that killing to take place on both sides,   knowing that,   in the end,   a peaceful solution must still be found.
