Vixen
I live in Holland and have a 1972 TVR Vixen which was sold new by a garage called "AB Gelder Automobiles" . It was on London Road. I know that the company this excists but is now on Sharrowvale road it has a new owner and is a Volvo garage now. I wonder what kind of garage it was and how they "operated". I am interested in any memory/story about this garage. Cheers Eric

Vixen
AB Gelder Automobiles sold new and used sports cars like TVR-Gilbern-Clan and was located at 247-251 London Road, in the Sixties/Seventies and later also at Sharrow Vale Road. Any one out there that remembers this garage, the owner Tony Gelder or his foreman Andy McLaughlan? Any picture with this garage or from 247-251 London Road would be very apriciated. First met Andy Mac' in the early 70's when He was at Gelders on Sharrow vale rd. - Nice Guy , Ace Engine Tuner . My buddy bought a Pre - Crossflow 1500c.c Ford Engine which Andy had " breathed " on and we put it in his Mk1 Cortina. Great Fun - not quite on a par with the Lotus Twin - Cam version , but not far away either. He also used to fettle the Clan - Crusaders for Racing customers. I worked with Andy some years later when He was a Service Advisor for another company. He was into Racing M.G Midgets for a hobby , but lost contact circa @ 1985 . Good times. Another friend used to work for Gelders , He used to collect part - built TVR's from Blackpool with an old Land Rover & Trailer , which could be interesting in winter time. I still have A Gelders Key Ring. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/12/gelders.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/33/gelderstvr.jpg/ Edited December 27, 2011 by Darnex photo link

Sorry suzyoo, I simply don't know, my aqquaintance with some of the Gelders guys ended in the 70's . Tony Gelder was regarded as bit of a legend and a real character , not many of those left nowdays . Motoring was fun - then . We all used the M.O.T garage just up the road ( Wilkies ? ) another real character .
