Well I lived in that area too and from what I remember students living in Totley lived in the accommodation on the university site. I don’t remember any student houses.  If there were any there very few.  I remember a lot of the students seemed to live around the Abbeydale/Carterknowle Rd area and travel up to Totley on the bus.  The old university site was on the outskirts of Totley and the students kept themselves to themselves.

My dad was a Liverpudlian student living in totley in late 70s? Could have been him?
