Ive already explained it. Venues admitting loads of youngster have to make every effort to ensure they retain their license and some will ID everyone, what ID do you expect 18-21 year old students to have? Many likely wont be driving and therefore that leaves passports only, many venues dont like the free ID Cards you can apply for as they can be easily faked.

 

The alternative is they dont get in the venue whilst all their mates do.

Never like that when I used to do the "West Street Wobble" back in the 60s

Attitudes to and enforcement of alcohol retailing were very different 60 years ago, of course, and there was very little, if any, social responsibility. Modern Life Is Rubbish, or something.

You walked up to a closed bar, that you had no interest in visiting, read a sign on the wall about their ID practices, then went back or contacted them later on to quiz them further on it?
