That question to the fragrant Miss Potion btw I realise that - because I know other forces who do the same - based on guidance produced by ACPO. If you had a young daughter, would you want some strangers, who are unregulated and have an ambiguous background keeping hold of her personal details, that could be used to trace things such as her address, social media pages, bank accounts? We don't know what their motive is. You have been told now of at least 5 premises in the city doing it, not just two. It's nothing new, btw. It's been happening in London for years. https://www.vice.com/da/article/qb5ppp/are-nightclubs-breaking-data-laws-by-storing-your-ids-and-fingerprints

Can't you see a problem with civilian strangers holding personal data, including security documents relating to border control? Have you read the articles I posted? Are you happy with people who work in The Tank having your details stored at their premises for an unspecified period of time, with potentially all staff and contractors seeing it? What if it were your wife or daughter who had some nightclub owner keeping hold of their personal details?
HeHasRisen
If it was being used to keep idiots out I really wouldn't care less. I have a Tesco Clubcard too, btw. Tesco know I buy toilet roll! Shock horror!

Irene just ignores them. Many venues up and down the country have ID scanners. Some have a no ID no entry policy. Aspers casino in Stratford and Heaven nightclub in London are 2 that I know of. Irene seems to live in her own fantasy world. 2

The ClubCard fiasco is a whole other debate, but believe me, there are sinister reasons why they desperately want you to have one.

I don't want to deter from the serious concerns regarding OneFourOne but there are social credit agendas related to the ClubCard scheme. 1
Mister M
Well thanks for the warning Irene. It's been over 10 years since I last drank on West Street on a Friday night, and never again. The pubs themselves were fine, the clientele were feral. Fighting, arguing etc -really unpleasant. I've never understood the mentality of some of the people who go to these 'trendy' pubs, get dressed up to the nines, only then to behave like pigs.

I never drink in any bars in town except for The Museum and The Queen's Head. The nightclub type bars are awful places, rude staff that don't appreciate custom, queueing up like cattle to get in, to dark and loud inside to enjoy yourself and as you say, there are some thugs that spoil it. I much prefer going out to a nice country pub, where I am treated with respect and I can hear myself think.
