They were happy times, we didn't have much but never wanted or expected much.

And then into the Commercial Hotel for the electricians to pay their union subs. Bought a wrist watch down Chapel Walk with part of my first wage of £6-15 from Ackroyd and Abbots. in 1964, it still works.

I haven't smoked for about 50 years now but I still have the Ronson Varaflame lighter my parents bought me for my 16th birthday. It brings back memories from when I carried it schooldays, my civilian jobs, throughout my army service and in different countries I visited. Only a small thing but lots of memories.
SheffieldForum
According to The Star, this plan is ‘still alive’ and there may be an announcement within a month: “Debenhams in Sheffield city centre could still come back to life as a ‘People’s Store’ selling second hand items, The Star has learned. “Anthony Lorenz, spokesman London firm MHA, which owns the building, said the firm was “working up something” and hoped to make an announcement within a month.” https://www.thestar.co.uk/business/consumer/debenhams-sheffield-peoples-store-plan-for-department-store-on-the-moor-4664648 1 Sheffield Forum | The Sheffield Guide | The Sheffield Shop
