We keep getting told that us lefties are control freaks but I don't want to interfere with Europe or anyone else. We have more than enough problems of our own to keep us busy for a long long time.

Decent job is right, decent wages? Definitely not. As far as what socialists promise, not so sure about that Quote  Secure for life, and never running out of customers. A growth industry! The organisation I work for doesn't exclusively cater for people who are from different corners of the globe, but it's definitely a growth industry. Quote  I don't know about Jack, but where I live, they don't have the kind of money to spend on immigrants. They have more than enough on their hands looking after their own!  Ah, well, Who cares about out of control, spiraling National Debts? You'll all be dead long before the bills come due.  Most immigrants who come here contribute to the economic well being of our country. As far as national debts go, have a go at the people who voted for this government. I didn't, and the debt has sky rocketed under them. Not because of immigration but because of malfeasance, crony contracts, waste, general incompetence and entitlement - as well as Brexit, policy decisions, war in Ukraine, and the pandemic. Edited October 17, 2023 by Mister M
ads36
What have Poland done?  They've rejected a right wing, authoritarian, increasingly bonkers and worrying government.  There is a sensible conversation to be had around immigration, and integration, infrastructure, etc.  But the outgoing Polish government went *WAAAAY* beyond anything that could be considered a sensible conversation, and started enthusiastically down the well-trodden right-wing road of seizing control of the media, going after womens' rights, persecution of it's critics, etc.  The world needs sensible right-wing voices, and governments, but they seem in very short supply. The Polish people saw the worrying idiots in power, and voted for someone else.
Delbow
Also, we don't know what the new government's approach will be to immigration, but up until now the general Polish attitude to immigration has been incredibly hypocritical: immigration of Poles to EU = fine, immigration of anyone else to Poland = not fine. Poland has done very well from EU membership and a lot of money was sent home from people working abroad. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Isn't that what the extreme left-wing are doing in western countries?  The problem in the west is that this is all being promoted in the name of diversity, by most media outlets, and criticism is shouted down as phobic/-ist. Barring a couple of outlets, the majority of the media push certain left-wing causes where criticism leads to name calling and 'cancelling'.  The fact that the BBC has certain criteria on job applications shows their bias. And how many of them are pushing the 'T' part of the alphabet community to the detriment of some of the other letters, but questioning it is 'phobic'.  I would argue that the majority of stories pushed by media sources are in favour of the extreme left's politics. 9 minutes ago, ads36 said: i'd be interested to hear which western country you thought had an "extreme left-wing" government?   I wasn't talking about governments...  But you can't deny who would suffer if someone like Lisa Nandy acquired a whiff of power with her huge support for biological men in female spaces. And even the Tories are far more central than they perhaps ought to be on some policies, for fear of upsetting certain sections of society.

Fortunately, you don't have that power.  Unfortunately, you can vote for those that would love nothing better!
