It's a bit comical when people talk about the oldies seeing things through  "rose tinted spectacles or glasses"   when they themselves are too young to have seen them at all,  so how would they know ?

You haven't experienced a particular time if you were not alive to live it so no,  the oldies don't see it through rose tinted specs,  they see it as it actually was,  and it was pretty damned good.

   Mr Grey,   he of the wandering mind,  seems to have time slipped to Nelson Mandela and South Africa now,  but I fail to see how he is connected with "proper Sheffielders"
