PRESLEY
We owe more to those lads and lasses who have lost their lives fighting or contributing in anyway in all war efforts for our freedoms today, I personally think if possible everyone should turn out show how really grateful you are. Once a year is not asking a lot. GET OUT THERE!
Findlay
Normally go the local Sunday service as Barkers Pool is too busy for me. Stagecoach is offering free transport again for the military, veterans & cadets. https://www.stagecoachbus.com/news/yorkshire/2023/november/veterans-free-travel-2023
Foot and Mouth
Yes, I'll be in Barkers Pool with my 'family' of veterans. Bit of banter, pre parade pint, pre parade hip flask, reminiscing, but also a time to be sombre and of course remembering. I'll take photos of those individuals I'll be particulary remembering (sadly passed) and when all the fuss has gone from the Cenotaph I'll place them carefully with a poppy. Then a pint or two. Thanks to all who attend, especially the scooter brigade. Its always welcomed.

lazarus
I’ll be thinking about my Irish great uncles from Dublin, one died in the Easter rising in Dublin in 1916 and was hailed as the Hero of the Bridge Street siege fighting for his country and his brother died in Belgium at the Mousetrap Farm, fighting alongside the British, his body was never found but both fought and died for what they thought was right. harvey19
In 1944 my aunt was a single woman, a married woman, a widow, and a mother. Her husband was killed after the D Day invasion and never saw his daughter. Yesterday we went to see the film The Great Escaper featuring Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson. It was about a 90 year old veteran who decided to travel to the D Day commemorations on his own. A very good and moving film.
