Flammable means the object can burn if set alight while inflammable means it can set alight of its own accord. When you consider that sane and insane, conclusive and inconclusive, destructible and indestructible, escapable and inescapable all mean the opposite of each other I think it's weird, and that's not a dubitable opinion, it's an indubitable one.
