I've no idea why this group want to save a smelly, dilapidated old cafe. The place used to be a mess every time you went in. Old carpet covered in food and sticky tables. It should  be levelled and a multi purpose building put up with a new cafe, function rooms that could be used for wedding receptions and exhibitions etc and some maintained toilets included  too. Rather than throw money at the current eyesore.

SCC didn’t listen when there was protests against the disgraceful tree decimation, so why have they chosen to listen to protesters trying to save a dilapidated, uneconomical, inefficient cafeteria?

See the post two above - and the two issues are unrelated.

It’s almost like “SCC” isn’t just one person making a decision on each occasion .

All our park cafeterias need to be better regulated by the council. Too many of them close Willy nilly, despite advertised opening times. The quality of food at Rivelin cafe has been decimated and obviously the up keep at Rose Cafe has been non-existent for it to get in to this state. Park cafes form part of the public facilities, the council needs to set out certain standards of quality.

You're probably right, but do you honestly think the council has either the time or the money to do this?  It would be a good idea to bring back Park keepers, and sports huts with changing facilities etc as well, but it's never going to happen. Local libraries should be reinstated with full time staff too, and youth clubs and youth workers and...in fact all the things we have lost over the past 13 years...  The time will come when all these things are completely forgotten by new generations who never knew they existed.

13 years again  . It’s been happening for a lot longer than that and under different Governments.
So at least try and be fair .
