Immigration Numbers?

Recommended Posts

I'm not surprised that the EU is waking up to it,  Farage is honest in his views,  always has been, the whole illegal immigration problem is impractical.

It must be costly for Germany to want to limit it,  they and other countries have seen what has happened in Italy.

They don't want a massive recession, the NHS and key sections of the economy to go to pot... just at the moment.

Paying millions of NHS and local authority workers a below inflation pay rise will lead us into a recession, because they will have less money to spend.

The only thing that is stopping a recession was the 745,000 extra net immigration. A good proportion of those 745,000 will contribute to the economy.

Having said that -

"The UK is at risk of recession after revised figures showed the economy shrank between July and September.

Gross domestic product, which measures the health of the economy, contracted by 0.1% after previous estimates suggested growth has been flat.

Meanwhile, there was zero growth between April and June, after it was first calculated to have risen by 0.2%.

A recession is typically defined as when the economy shrinks for two three-month periods - or quarters - in a row."

Bungle isn't the right word:

Farcical! Mysterious passport stamps accidentally 'let migrants stay in UK'... and the Home Office has no idea how many foreign nationals have been mistakenly allowed to live here indefinitely | Daily Mail Online

However:

From today, the majority of foreign university students cannot bring family members to the UK. In 2024, we’re already delivering for the British people.

@ukhomeoffice

We are fully committed to seeing a decisive cut in migration. From today, new overseas students will no longer be able to bring family members to the UK. Postgraduate research or government-funded scholarships students will be exempt.

Foreign students shun UK over ‘unfavourable atmosphere’ (telegraph.co.uk)

University of Birkbeck reprts 10% drop in numbers and blames government announcements.

The way the whole issue is being handled is a joke.

By making life more difficult and unpleasant for foreign students, how has this actually improved anything for anyone else?

Absolutely correct  -  The Home Office has no idea.

Just a lot more tinkering and trying to look as though they are actually tackling the problem.

Sunak's  "we’re already delivering for the British people*       is yet another confidence trick in this long running,     "Do nothing about Anything"   exercise.
