https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-67682933.amp His story is not adding up. He says he has been on the streets since he was 17 (8 years). Firstly, social services would not allow a 17 year old child to sleep on the streets, he would be put in a youth hostel or certainly get priority housing. Secondly, there are various night shelters that have been operating in inner London for many years, one of which is Shelter From The Storm, operating in Islington. How has he avoided all of these organisations for 8 years. Thirdly, in the video, the boots he is wearing appear to be brand new Timberland ones. If he has no money or home, where did they come from?

You really think the social services after 13 years of funding cuts would pick up on every 17 year old rough sleeper unless say they'd been arrested and referred by the police?

Night shelters / supported housing are well oversubscribed and lots of homless avoid them due to abuse (physical / financial / sexual).

And all light brown boots are Timberland - who knew it?

The plot thickens. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12851597/amp/homeless-man-mcdonalds-water-soaked-christmas.html

He receives £700 a month in PIP plus Universal Credit. People I know with bipolar and epilepsy receive less than half of that, so he would obviously be a high priority case for housing. Why hasn't he used some of the nigh on £1,000 per month to rent somewhere or book himself in to cheap hostels? Even if London is too expensive, he could get himself on a train up to somewhere like Middlesbrough, where housing is cheap and get a council flat. I am not buying this story at all. The trainers he is wearing are Nike, which retail at over £100, no Shoe Zone for Mr McCarthy. He also has an adoptive mother in Wales. People who adopt tend to be caring and are means tested before they get handed the kid. Why doesn't he get a train to Wales and ask her for help? Hmmm. I put it to the forum that he doesn't want any help and would rather beg on the streets. He says he is not on drugs but where is the £1,000 per month going then? The way he talks and swipes his head side to side suggests he is on something.

Could be owt he was wearing on his feet from them videos  - and would have sworn there was a difference between Timberland boots and Nike  trainers  😎

The Daily Mail article quite clearly shows Nike shoes. The logo is apparent. Click on the article and see.
