All Posters Must Use Verified Names When Posting.

My view is that this is a load of rubbish, and exists as a requirement in one posters mind to enable him to dismiss any criticism by playing his trump card.

Strangely this only occurs on posts of particular people who call him out whilst his few supporters get a pass.

If it’s the content of a post that matters rather than the poster what’s the problem?

It depends how devious the poster is ,some have a personal agenda

Just for the record, I am in favor of free choice of each poster to choose his/her/their own forum ID tag.

But I am under no obligation to take their cheap anonymous personal insults and rants seriously.

The weird views of folks who jumped on our dear Cressida, bless her and accuse her of supporting the rape of women and the murder of children, deserve and get no respect from me.

When I called someone "dearie" the  outraged virtue signalling moral police here subjected me to the usual flame war, egged on by the "clapping seals".🙂

That is their right. We have free speech, thanks to the moderators here

But Orgy's abject venal characterization of Cressida's comedic post, got no response from these same clapping seals.

Crickets!

But that's life!🙂

I am sure that some do including the gang of several who pile on to a particular poster In personal terms whatever he writes.

Even when in agreement it seems that is not acceptable or welcome.

If you want freedom to slander/lies, then go to Twitter/X

Facebook is very personal and people are careful in what they say, on here its more anonymous, so we can all speak more freely.

We have the freedom to chose.

I am not quite sure what this means, but I have no intention whatsoever of giving my real name on a public f.orum such as this. I try to keep  my posts polite and to the point (not always successful on that one.) But my name is my personal property and my privacy important to me. I have nothing awful to hide, I just don't want my name in the public domain which could open me up to something far more dodgy than a few rude and angry comments. Anyway, user names are common on most websites

Maybe I've got hold of the wrong end of the stick, (nothing new there) but if this becomes a new rule, I shall be leaving Sheffield Forum forthwith, which I would be sad to do because there is an eclectic mix of interesting people on here with diverse views on life, and I shall miss them.

You  have slightly. This is just the crotchety old men having a bun-fight between themselves - nothing to do with forum policy.
