Scientists Hold 20 Mins 'Conversation' With Humpback Whale

Recommended Posts

Scientists have attracted and then held a 20 minute exchange with a humpback whale, using recorded humpback sounds. It wasn't a conversation in the usual sense - it doesn't seem like the humans were able to translate what the whale was saying, but it's interesting because the purpose of the project is to be able to develop technology that can detect non-human communications from space and be able to separate that from just 'noise'. But it will be interesting to see whether it's possible to decode whale sounds to the extent of being able to have some kind of intelligible communication with them.

Boy do them Scientist types know how to hold a Christmas party.

The news is they've since been barred from 'Marine World' after the incident with the Slinky whale .

Keep safe out there kids 🎅

I know how they feel. I once spent twenty minutes trying to get sense out of Hackey😁
