Quite often these are used by people who actually don't know the meaning of them, they just throw them out in an attempt to close down an opponent in a debate because they're losing.

I watched a podcast recently and there was a guest who claimed to be a feminist and she called a commenter a Misogynist . When the host asked her to define the term and how it applied to to the comment she literally burst into tears and asked to leave the studio because she was caught out in her own BS
