Money laundering.

A well known ploy. It's the same in Vegas.  Put a suitcase of money through the fruit machine .  Get about 30% back in winnings, let the winnings build up and then  get the casino to pay the winnings into your account and presto. All legit.

I used the same family-run barbers shop for over 30 years - then after Covid it went to appointment only - and then only through smartphones.  I want a hair-cut when I decide to, and I don't have a smartphone, so now I keep trying different barbers who do walk-in's and take cash.  Eventually, I'll find one who does a good job (as verified by OH) and setttle with them.....

Bang on the money, ( pardon the pun ),   there is a  parade of shops where I live and over the years shops with customers have closed then about a year ago two fancy fitted Barbers shops appeared around the same time,  which when passing on occaisions  I've noticed they are stood empty obviously no mystery to how the utility bills and rent are paid.  :suspect:

This sort of money laundering is well known, yet still the police do nothing.

I begin to wonder what we are paying the police for, as most crimes against the public it seems are beneath their interes

Apart from policing road regulations and collecting fines (most of which are done by road cameras and AI,) just what good do the police actually do?

I fully agree Anna,  excuses are paper work or its a council matter, or the incident is too far away from a coffee shop.  :hihi:

I was informed by an estate agent that they are used to launder drug money of a particular ethnic origin

You were given an opinion, not informed. Also, estate agents are on the rung below drug dealers.
