Good for you. A lot of places turned in to Nazi dictatorships around 4 years ago. They are shooting themselves in the foot because people still want spontenaety. I see a lot of local pubs operating a pre-booking only system and I just think you silly fools. These are the same places that then moan when people reserve the tables and don't turn up so they lose a night's income. 🤭 All places should accept cash. You'd have to be dumb to have a £10 note waived in your face and refuse to accept it because it's not imitation money (card payment). Do these "cashless" barbers not want a tip either?

I didn't make the post you quoted me in.

I know nowt about casinos, but might they be obliged to alert the authorities about that sort of carry on?

Casinos don't strike me as the sort of place that would willingly invite the authorities in for a snoop around. Although I'm no expert on casinos and money laundering.

Would that b e Taylors in town?.

A bit silly really.

Why not put the money in and have a couple of small bets then cash out?.

Take the receipt to the counter.

Taylor's went to appointment only during Covid, they kept it running afterwards but still do walk ins, you can book online or via app or even with a phonecall, they still take cash.

Best barbers in the city, I've been going for 30 years.

Always use Taylors when I'm in Sheffield and staying in the Novotel - have no trouble getting walk ins as I go mid-week and avoid lunch time. Hair cut I had last week should last me until next time we're in Sheff around Easter.

A member of my family works there.

Yes you're correct they are now taking walk ins.

You could just go to a casino, convert £10k into chips, gamble a few hundred quid and then cash out £9,000+. No need to lose over 70% of what you start with.

True but that may be more inclined to come to the authorities attention.

Has anyone else noticed a particular increase in barber shops around the city? For example, in Crosspool, there are now 2, 3 on Crookes and 5 in Broomhill, as well as several popping up around the city centre, such as the top of Church Street and on Leopold Street. Barber's shops are great, it's nice that men have an outlet just as us ladies have outlets with salons. I am however puzzled why there are so many sprouting up so close to each other. What's more, some of them never seem to have any customers but have very expensive looking fittings. I have seen commentary elsewhere in the country about affluent towns and villages having a plethora of barber's shops sprouting up yet sat empty with expensive cars parked outside. What's everyone else's thoughts?

At Banner Cross only a few years ago, there was one barber's shop.

Now there's at least half a dozen. Maybe your hair grows more quickly nowadays? Mine doesn't!
