Do they?

Have you any data to back that up?

Or is it just a bit of snobbery on your part?

Wel, I was in Ranmoor a while back and the roads where absolutely disgraceful, same as Fulwood, I then had to go to Gleadless Valley and the roads were spanking and recently repaired.

So yeah.

But it's the councils responsibility to put them right, and they usually do on council estates.

Lying again  -  get round and look at some,  not one.

Try walking a bit more often too and save the roads a bit  - that's what I do.

Go all round the house you want, but what populism really means is putting policies forward to the voters that they may actually want to vote for.

That is democracy.

I may not have agreed with Brexit but the voters had the right to vote on it, just like they should have the right to vote on whether they want to be forced to drive electric cars or whatever. To deny them that right, by all the main parties adopting the same basic policy, is profoundly undemocratic.

The days of getting what you want are gone.

Most of our industry has also gone.

We've had 13 years of a government who were not interested in growing our economy,  only China's.

Besides having a flat economy and highest taxes since WW2,  we now have to face climate change.

Forget what you WANT to do,  it's going to be a case of what we HAVE to do.  and the government don't want to do it either but they will.

Time to stop crying and grow up  -  we,  and you,  are still more fortunate than most so count your blessings.

In other words,  forget democracy too.

That's not very democratic is it ?

Much of that down to shutting down society and the economy for months on end and paying people to sit on their arses at home. Something you supported, and I did not.

You said it, and can I quote you on that in the future ?

Who says ?

Corrected your sentence for you :

Forget what you, and most other people,  WANT to do

Correct whatever you like but whilst you are bemoaning the old days,  I am a realist and I can see what's coming.  You won't be able to rewrite life.

Sunak is determined not to take any green measures because he's up to his neck in oil and coal deals, but he  and whoever follows will soon no longer have a choice.

Rewrite my words but see what happens and learn.
