I'm sure I got told this by a reyt proper Sheffielder but never heard anyone else use it and can't find owt online. Anyone else ever heard it? looks and sounds like prerogative ? Irene Swaine
I've noticed a lot of people in the north of Sheffield use a word "neb". It means to look in a nosey fashion, typically out of a window. For example:- "There was commotion on the street and Mrs Barnes was having a neb out of the window to see what was happening."

Neb is used as another form of nose . ie look at the size of his neb .
