The Law And Bullying - A Specific Question.

Recommended Posts

I've started this thread because there is yet another case of young person who has committed suicide because of bullying. This time it happened over social media.

The outline of the case is reported here:

Schoolgirl, 14, found dead after alleged bullying by boys, London inquest hears | London | The Guardian

I know that this instance of a young person taking their own life is not an isolated one; and no doubt there will be yet another examination of social media etc.

However my question is a specific one. Could the boys who bullied this young girl be prosecuted?

I know that bullying is as old as the hills, but at least in the old days you could go home, and feel safe in the evening and night. With social media it's constant.

There have been numerous cases over the years where a child has literally taken their own life because of the actions of others, and I've often wondered, why haven't the police acted? I've always assumed that's because there is no law there to protect them.

I know there are a couple of legal practitioners on this forum, could they explain the law and it's practice in this area?

Bullying has increased,  but it is still done on social media by adults so it's not surprising that it's done in the school classrooms and playgrounds,  all done most likely to

prove superiority.

Unfortunately , I can't see a way round it . Hate bullies but more often than not ,they are the insecure ones .  Just read it . If they were superimposing  girls faces onto porn stars , surely thats a crime .

I'm pretty sure it is. As she's 14 and these images were pornographic I'm sure these bullies can be done for making and distributing child porn?

Maybe the fact it isn't the girls body but a photoshop using her face means this can't happen though?

“We laughed it off, that was all she said, it was just in normal conversation,”

Instead of locking up the boys, could we do more to make children more robust and so that they cannot access hard porn?

Did the boys do anything wrong, knowingly?

It’s like if someone swears at you. It says nothing about you but tells you a lot about them!

I would love to see bullies of any age punished.

Count me in.

There could be some on here,  but it could backfire as has happened and I for one wouldn't want you to risk it.👍
