Did Sheffield Council Mislead About The Demolition Of Historic Market Tavern?

Recommended Posts

I’m not a fan of council-bashing for the sake of it, but this does seem like a mysterious and convenient set of recent circumstances (not to mention the historic failures of the area, including the last-minute consultation cancellation a few years ago, which still rankles😞

Great reporting by Sam Gregory from Now Then and excellent campaigning from Hallamshire Historic Buildings.

This, if true, has all the hallmarks of the 'Sheffield Trees' fiasco, which led to a full enquiry, and numerous 'recommendations' which SCC said they would implement - except when it suited them to ignore.

Maybe - but that is not the point. The point is that someone at SCC decided to continue with the demolition despite the council agreeing to suspend such action - very reminiscent of certain actions in the other 'mismanaged' topic.
