Sydney To Get A Brand New '30-Minute City' With Car-Free Streets:

Will have read of those links later, thanks.

One more from my bookmarks for you;
This is political expediency’: how the Tories turned on 15-minute cities

Imagine a city in which you could walk or cycle to almost anywhere you needed to go in the time it takes to drink a cup of coffee.

Shops, medical facilities and artistic sites would be spread throughout neighbourhoods.

Remote and home working would be embraced.

Sound idyllic? Not if you’re Rishi Sunak.

The prime minister used an interview before this week’s party conference to “hit out” at the 15-minute city concept, saying there was a “relentless attack” on motorists who “depend on their cars to get to work, take their kids to school, do their shopping, see the doctor” – ignoring that this dependence is exactly what the model aims to reduce.

It's supposed to be a little comical to get through to the thickies.  As a concept, you can't fault CBDC, but that's as far as it goes, How long will it be before your Digital Wallet is "Geo Fenced" (It will not work if you go outside your 15-minute City) or you upset the powers that be with a post on FB that they don't like, and decide to fine you, or you're a little over weight so it won't let you buy Chocolate  - Total Control has now gone from You, to the Powers that be. Then there is the possibility of having a Time limit on your digital money, it must be spent in, say, 3 months, or it disappears - there is No Way you can save up for a house, or car etc.

Exactly.

Didn't they stop the HGV driver's salary by this means in Canada not so long ago for protesting something? Can't remember the details but it's already been used against people..

Now there is very little difference between parties, and therfore little choice for voters, protest will be the only way of showing discontent.  Which is why all the means of protest are being steadily closed down too. When Democracy is no longer working,  giving any body total control is a huge mistake.
