we covered that already  - read back if you've forgotten.

I could have sworn you said a tunnel under the Pennines "would make the journey east to west extremely quick and extremely safe in any kind of weather."

Can't see you've provided any evidence for this.

Never said I was providing evidence.  neither have you.

There are 11 tunnels more than 8 miles in length.  9 of them built in this 21st century.
It looks like the enthusiasm and the willingness to pay the costs is still there.
I wonder why ?   But don't ask the cheapo's

So  your statement that a tunnel under the Pennines "would make the journey east to west extremely quick and extremely safe in any kind of weather."  is completely free of evidence.

Thank you.

And so is yours.   This is an ordinary forum  -  do you think you are in the Old Bailey ?

What evidence is this that a tunnel under the Pennines would be quicker?

We know tunnels can be built but folk who pay for them, either though tolls or taxation. need to see the advantages.

If people  the world over are happy to pay the cost,  live with the delay ( which you claim ),  live with the danger ( which you claim ), then they seem like a good idea to everyone except you.

If the evidence satisfies everyone else,  it satisfies me.
