What on earth are they expecting? Train replacement buses charge, guess what, the train rates. This is no different.

The tram is more expensive to run, as there is more complicated infrastructure to maintain, additional staffing costs of having a Conductor as well as a driver. £2.40-£2.80 seems about right. Stagecoach will be paying First through the nose for the replacement services, drivers will be on overtime rates etc.

It's costing Stagecoach in resources to utilise First rail replacement, all the while paying for staff to be sat spare in the mess room because there's no service for them to operate.
