How Do I Find Out Who Sold My House?

Recommended Posts

Hello

I am currently buying a new home and have been asked to provide the source of funds under the "Money Laundering Regulations".  As the house was sold in 2020 I have lost the details of who was the lawyers or estate agents dealing with it.

Does anyone know how I can find this information?

Thank you for any help!

Try thehouseshop.com and put in your old address / postcode.

Did it for a road I used to live in and it came up with what appeared to be the original ad and the name of the estate agent.

Do you mean you need to prove where the funds you are buying the new house with came from? Bank account records should be sufficient.

Best way: go direct to HMLR. They will have these details (except Estate Agents').

Start at https://www.gov.uk/search-property-information-land-registry

(Beware: there are copycat websites that look like the real thing!)

Did you mean to write "How Do I Find Out Who Bought My House?"

You don't need to provide details of who bought your house, or the estate agent who sold it. Normally a bank account statement showing payment from your firm of solicitors is all that is needed.
