crookesey
I was looking for something on the internet when exactly what I wanted came up with Temu at a ridiculously cheap price. Being a bargain lover I decided to purchase and did so on PayPal, I received conformation that payment has gone through and then a request from the actual goods supplier asking for an additional small payment, this should be made by bank debit or credit card, thus supplying the supplier with my financial details. I contacted my bank and after a long discussion they cancelled the PayPal payment in order to ‘be safe’. The question is, was I being scammed? RollingJ
Certainly a very strange idea and a supplier to be avoided - if you paid the requested price via PayPal, that is what you pay. As you say, extremely dodgy.
redruby
They certainly sell some odd items https://restofworld.org/2023/china-shopping-temu-reviews/
RollingJ
Cheers, @redruby - a Chinese 'shop', explains it all.

Listen to those little alarm bells in your head! We all like a bargain, but not at risk of being scammed and/or your bank details ending up in the wrong hands. Delbow
When something is very, very cheap it nearly always means that someone, somewhere is paying, either in exploitative and unsafe working conditions, pollution or being scammed.
RollingJ
@Delbow - blame the Chinese.
carosio
Temu works like Amazon, they're a platform for different sellers. Some items are ok, others not well made. A friend quite likes some of the stuff he has bought, depends what the item is. Plenty of videos about them on youtube.
spilldig
Got to be a scam I would say. I have bought many things from Temu with no bother whatsoever. Nobody gets my card details. If you have paid via Paypal that's that.
