There's been no enforcement action to collect the original fines so they're just going to ignore the new ones too.

Wonder why there's such a soft touch being applied.......

Keep fining, let it all add up, then when it reaches a large amount and they enforce and don't get payment apply for bankruptcy proceedings to close them down and get rid once and for all, maybe?

its strange this , as many know i run the lowedges festival and each year we have H&S officers ect , we take the bookings from the hot/cold food traders and ensure they have the food hygene, insurance p/liability ect , we have always done this, but SCC have never asked for them to be sent to them, as you know we have now moved to the big bowshaw showground 300 yards away, but just over the boarder into n/e derbyshire , now what a game changer they want details of every hot/cold food trader, also they visit the site , please note they have been very helpfull, when i asked out of intrest the differences between sheffield and derbyshire she said sheffield was bigger so more cases were allowed to do it there selves, that questions what happens if organisers are not a diligent as we are on food retailors paperwork, i am not saying sheffield are not doing it right, but is it because they dont have enough officers?, glad to see action was taken on this occasion , but again we see the famous sell on ect.

Sheffield Garage Fined Again for Safety Failures

Sheffield's Brightside Motors Ltd has been fined £4,000 for failing to meet fire safety regulations, marking the third significant penalty for the business this year.

Brightside Motors, located on Holywell Road, was ordered to pay the fine at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on July 31 following a failed fire safety inspection. The inspection was prompted by a blaze at the garage in April 2023, which revealed that the business was not complying with a previously agreed fire safety plan.

Repeated Failures

This latest fine follows a series of penalties imposed on Brightside Motors for various infractions in 2024. In January, the company was fined £10,000, plus £2,765 in costs, for leaving vehicles on the highway in a state of disrepair and causing obstructions. In February, the garage faced an £11,000 fine after the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) exposed the deplorable condition of its toilets.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Andy Strelczenie highlighted the importance of compliance in fire safety regulations, stating, “Fire Safety is a core function of the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, our aim is always to work with businesses to ensure they can keep people safe, but it needs to be a two-way process. In this case, we have had little to no engagement from the company involved, despite multiple requests to improve and share information with us. This has ultimately resulted in this fine being issued.”

Court Proceedings

The recent case was proved in absence as no representatives from Brightside Motors attended the hearing. The court imposed a £2,500 fine, £569 in prosecution costs, and a £1,000 victim surcharge, totalling £4,069.

Health and Safety Violations

Brightside Motors has demonstrated a pattern of neglect towards health and safety regulations. Earlier this year, the HSE released images of the garage’s toilets showing a filthy environment with an overflowing bin, paper strewn on the floor, and grime-covered surfaces. The company was prosecuted for failing to provide clean and suitable welfare facilities for its staff, yet did nothing to address the issues when inspectors returned.

Financial Consequences

The cumulative penalties for Brightside Motors in 2024 now total £28,126, reflecting repeated failures to adhere to safety and health regulations. The ongoing disregard for compliance not only poses risks to employees and customers but also underscores the importance of stringent enforcement of safety standards.

Not one penny will be paid ...it will shut down and reopen next week under a different name !

So the courts keep spending money on proceedings etc, taxpayer's money.

Yet as so as it reaches that magic large amount, suddenly the business will have no assets or cash and file for insolvency.

Magically the next week a new repair business, with the same staff and miraculously, fully tooled. In fact there will be no difference in the place other than the legal name on the Companies House registration.

Business owners like this ABUSE the Limited Liability system in this way.
