It's a classic example of a 1930s art deco commercial building. Beautiful in the eye of this beholder.
Irene Swaine
Ticket gates may well be erected at Sheffield station if this goes ahead. From speaking with Revenue Managers at the East Midlands franchise, they were still in the process of trying to get them put in, despite various knock backs. It’s a dilapidated 1930’s old garage that looks odd within the environment of all the new redevelopments.

The argument against has always been that technically the bridge within the station is a right-of-way from the city centre to South Street and beyond, and would need to be replaced if ticket barriers were erected. This scheme seems to have that replacement. 2 Sheffield Forum | The Sheffield Guide | The Sheffield Shop

It’s a lovely building and fits quite nicely in my opinion. 2 Sheffield Forum | The Sheffield Guide | The Sheffield Shop
Irene Swaine
I hope some consideration is given for a bus stop on site of the station.

Oh no - not that old chestnut again - how many times have you been told it is not practicable, and there are already close-by alternatives? prince al
Knock the chuffing thing down now and build a big new shiny hotel! Why hasn’t Sheffield got a new lovely big hotel outside the railway station? It would make a fortune!

We don't know how far this development will encroach on to the forecourt exactly. If they are digging things up to build a bridge, they may as well improve the road layout for a bus stop.
