Why hasn’t Sheffield got a new lovely big hotel outside the railway station? It would make a fortune! Derby, Leeds, York, London Saint Pancras all have very nice hotels outside. A grand hotel gives a great first impression when you come to a city. There is Novotel, which is nice but up the steep Howard Street with heavy luggage. If they are digging things up to build a bridge, they may as well improve the road layout for a bus stop. Does it really need one, though?

Or a quick trip to the Tram stop at the station - and then you have a choice of even closer hotels than the one you mention - not forgetting Raddison Blu, of course. It wouldn't be much extra work with everything going on and route 120 could use it to convey students off the train to University and Ranmoor campus. What - you get puddles anywhere, and the 'beggars' as you seem to like calling them are noticeable by their absence on Flat Street.

They sit on the walk way between Sheaf Street and Harmer Lane, often near the bicycle racks.
prince al
Novotel is awful! No knock that Showroom down and that dreadful, truly awful building that used to be Students Union. God it must be torture working in there with no natural light. It would be better suited in Russia pre Glasnost!
