What has this contribution got to do with the media wrongly implying  a horrendous crimes were committed by a woman?

Well the topic title is
Scarlet Blake -Why Are The Media Calling This Murderer A She

Though it was provided with little explanation in the opening post, and no verifiable link to any news report(s).

This seems to be related to the media reporting of the actual court case, rather than opinion pieces about the trial and the crimes themselves.

I provided some explanation for that back in post 45 .

Unsurprisingly few folk chose to engage with that post, so maybe it didn't support their teeming outrage.

Essentially court reports should faithfully represent the trials; journalists have specific training on the subject, such as this

IPSO (International Press Standards organisation) Guidance on court reporting

Thus court reporting, whether in print or otherwise, should really reflect the court's proceedings; discussion afterwards is different.
My previous post addressed the court's own guidelines.

Post trial discussion  is fair game, both addressing the nature of the crime(s), the offender(s) and the effect on the public.
There is no shortage of the latter for anyone who looks.

A real danger is that can lead to headlines such as this, which might seek to lead its audience to believe that all trans folk are depraved.
That of course is part of the US hard right ideology; Spiked UK is well known to be funded via Spiked US
How US billionaires are fuelling the hard-right cause in Britain

That Spiked magazine’s US funding arm received $300,000 from the Charles Koch Foundation suggests a hidden agenda

I never knew that you were so sensitive about someone being misgendered.

Oh you haven't. It's just an opportunity to have a go trans people.

Writers at Spiked are real Shytalks.

Former members of the Revolutionary Communist Party, transformed into money grubbing, right wing shills. Utterly repulsive.

Haven't you got some campaigning to be getting on with to get Mr Pink elected to be the next Spalding Flower Queen?

BTW, I think you might have misgendered Mr Pink because you implied he is trans yesterday, but in that is the case he would not be using the prefix Mr.

Or perhaps the Cheeky Girls are also trans?

Just been listening to Alicia Kearns, Tory MP lambasting those people who undermine the trans community.

Very good speech, and why being a Tory doesn't equal being an irrational, reactionary and prejudiced. You should have a listen.

This topic is not about undermining the trans community. It is about women not being included in the crime statistics committed by men

Okay then, crack on and have your important discussion about women not being included in the crime statistics committed by men.

Pity you can't be such a stickler for forum rules when it comes to not making prejudiced remarks about more vulnerable members of society

  • First published in 1968, DSM-II listed homosexuality as a mental disorder.

  • Not until 1987 did homosexuality completely fall out of the DSM.

We do think people that do not adhere to norms are strange and posibly mentally ill, but it might be that we are all different.

I’m not claiming to be an expert on this.  Of course not all trans people are mentally ill.  Sometimes mental illness can manifest with issues around gender identity though apparently.  Presumably there are mentally ill trans people as there also mentally ill people in the general population.  In the case of Scarlet Blake the judge was informed that this person was not mentally ill.  Presumably the judge was given expert advice on this which I trust more that random opinions online!
