deej
Hi can anyone help me please. Can anyone tell me how to get sticky plastic adhesive off my cupboard doors without damaging doors? I've tried hair dryer but it's bubbled the vanner I've put nail varnish on & left it to soak, any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.
The_DADDY
Is it residue from a sticker?
SheffieldForum
I think this would depend on the type of adhesive. Have you tried just warm, soapy water on a cloth/rag and soaking it? Or white vinegar and doing the same? A 'window scraper' is a good tool to use too, once soaked. What surface is it stuck onto? I’d be tempted to try a nylon scourer and washing up liquid to start with. Be gentle. Maybe add some scouring powder or paste. If that doesn’t work, try a hairdryer and a scraper of some sort. Warm the glue and scrape it off bit by bit. If you stick any harsher solvents in, you are as likely to dissolve the surface as the glue. I wouldn’t go there if I were you. You’d be better off re-covering the doors. Draggletail
I'd try methylated spirit. Try a little bit first to avoid potential damage. Having said that I've used it on and off for years on jobs like this and it's always been OK.
godin
This stuff is very effective, but I'd only use a tiny amount, and only if the wood is sealed with varnish: https://www.desolvit.co.uk/product/de%E2%80%90solv%E2%80%90it-sticky-stuff-remover/
Delbow
Isopropyl alcohol is generally good for stuff like this, I've used it to clean off sellotape residue and the like.
