crookesey
Today I had a very comprehensive hearing test with Hidden Hearing, as expected they diagnosed comprehensive hearing loss. I didn’t know what to expect price wise but was gob smacked at the choice of one set at £4.999 and another at £3.999, I was told that the latter would do the job for me. I’m not interested in the on-line cheap sets and understand that the NHS has a 15 months waiting list and doesn’t supply anything remotely comparable with Hidden Hearing, any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. flanksy
Hi Crookesey. Why not try Amplifon on Church St. I bought rechargeable hearing aids from here last year. They cost £2800 & more than suit my needs as I am quite deaf. The audiologist is very good & will give you a hearing test, I also had my ears cleaned.Hope this helps. Admittedly I don't live in Sheffield any more, but at the time I was still registered with a Sheffield GP. They referred me, (I expected to the Hallamshire), but it was to a local hearing hub in Macclesfield. It only took a month, maybe 6 weeks. Full hearing test, NHS over ear aids programmed to suit me and on my way in an hour or so; all free.

Sounds like you were being offered some specialist type in ear thing at that price. Would suggest Specsavers, they start around £500-£600 for their hearing aids. Yes I want the specialist in ear aids, but not at £4-5K, I’ve managed without one so far and will search the market as well as responding to recommendations, thanks for your reply. Anna B
2 hours ago, crookesey said: Cheers Anna, I suspect that yours is not in-ear. They are exactly the same as a relative's who paid £4,000+ for hers. She returned them and got a refund, then got the NHS ones which she says are just as good if not better. Mine are almost invisible buds which fit in the ear, with a fine colourless plastic tube to the small, working bit behind the ear, which was adjusted by the technician to match my specific needs. I didn't realise how deaf I was until I got these. They're billiant.
