cuttsie
In Gaza , The USA is going to build a port and ship landing stage so as to allow ships to dock and unload aid to the Palestinians who are trapped in the enclave due to the war that began on Oct 7th last year . So as it is in Ukraine its the bad old U,S,A to the rescue ,,, They will be slagged off on here as usual but lets not forget that those who supply arms and missiles to the Hamas murdering hordes that started this latest conflict are not the ones that are coming to the rescue , The ones that are, are the good old USA as always happens when push comes to shove . Al Bundy
The USA are the world's police. Everyone hates them until they need help.

Prettytom
I think that you should see this as evidence of the US losing patience with the conduct of the extremist Israeli government.

crookesey
At the risk of repeating myself, not having anything to say better than that of Churchill. You can always rely on the Americans to do the right thing. After they’ve exhausted all other possibilities.

To add for reference, Hamas gets most of its weapons from Iran. The weapons are transported though Egypt and smuggled into Gaza through the tunnels. But Hamas' weapons also include AK-47 assault rifles from China and Russia, and rocket-propelled grenades manufactured in North Korea and Bulgaria. So the main culprits in arming HAMAS are Iran and Egypt.

However it isn’t them that will do the fighting, IMHO the West should hit them where it hurts, that being in their wallets.
RJRB
Is this a realistic and timely operation to get aid to 700,000 Palestinians or an electioneering move to keep everyone on side. If no US soldiers set foot in Gaza then presumably the IDF will continue to call the shots . I hope it contributes to relief for those who are starving but the only real answer is a settlement to allow convoys of lorries through the existing routes.
