That's not to say that life since hadn't been various shades of blissful (and miserable), but from that point on there's always been a cloud or two to spoil the view. I had what I used to think of as my 'nine years in the wilderness' after my long term partner and myself split up. I had a roof over my head and friends, and could afford food and nights out in the pub with friends, but they were hollow years, and frustrating until I met the love of my life. Longcol Posted March 18 Share Posted March 18 The 1990's. We had our kids, we moved to a better house. Passed my driving test first time (a late starter). My wife got a 1st class honours degree from the Open University - to give her time to study I used to take the kids out for the day most every weekend - wonderful times. I moved from a pretty stagnant position in the NHS to the Voluntary Sector and never looked back. Pubs round Commonside / Barber Road were buzzin' , We started going on family camping holidays to France - where me and my wife retired to 6 years ago.
