in the last 10 years, the number of cars has gone up from about 30million, to 33million.

what's hidden in that number, is that some (many?) cars are effectively empty - driving to, or returning from, dropping off a family member.

 

how many car journeys are made ferrying teenage kids around?  - only to temporarily return home, effectively empty.

Finished many a milk round without one.

Start her in gear & off you go 🥴.

That's the spirit. Nowadays if car breaks down it usually means calling AA or tow to garage and plugged in to a very expensive supercomputer.

Back in the sixties myself and mate were having a Saturday night out in London. We were in his PA Vauxhall Cresta. So there we are 10pm Saturday night, Piccadilly Circus. Ran out of petrol. Nightmare.
