Halifax High Street Branch To Close

Recommended Posts

I recall during my financial services days, that the icing on the cake for an estate agency or insurance brokerage was a Halifax agency, I doubt that there are many of those these days.

And was it for something that absolutely couldn't be done either online or on the phone?

That's your issue. I can't think of a single function a branch does that they can't do through other channels, my mortgage provider could have taken the ID a different way I suppose and probably do now. And I can't imagine the rent on High Street is especially cheap either.

I could buy all my food and clothes online, but I still want supermarkets and clothes shops to exist. The last time I tried phoning my bank I was on hold for 40 minutes, so just went on my dinner break instead and got it sorted in five minutes.

Obviously it makes sense to close some branches, especially if there are multiple in the same city centre, but closing them all would be drastic.

But you had to waste part of your lunch break and spend time physically having to go to a branch to "sort it in 5 minutes".

Whilst a 40 minute waiting on hold is not ideal, I would still prefer to be able to call them at my convenience from the comfort of my home while sat in my PJs.

I went in person because I often nip to Sainsbury's or Boots for a sandwich anyway and the bank is less than 50 yards from both. It was no bother at all.
