£70 to file a small claims case upto a grand isn't it?  Usually no need for a solicitor, both sides represent themselves.

Doesn't take much effort to compile the relevant evidence. 

 

A small dealer might pull a Phoenix move, but a large car supermarket can't, which is why they won't sell you something cheap out back.
