No More Fa Cup Replays

No more replays from the 1st Round proper due to the demands of European Football.

How can teams from League 1, League 2 and non-league playing in the 1st Round be causing a problem for European football?

The theory is that freeing up the R1 and R2 replay midweeks will allow two extra rounds in the EFL Trophy, a competition that a) has PL academy sides in, and b) the PL clubs actually fund. No idea if the latter is actually true, just what I read.

If the FA really bothered about the little clubs, they would not have ruled for next season:

Quote

· Clubs currently at Step 6 of The FA National League System should NOT apply to enter the FA Cup.
[...]
Clubs relegated from Step 5 to Step 6 for season 2024-25 will NOT be accepted to participate in the competition.

So for some little clubs, the FA Cup will not be in their fixture list next season.

The Premier League/Sky cartel was set up to sell TV rights abroad to the highest bidder, they don't care about the history, the football pyramid, anything other than protecting their most saleable assets at all costs, when I saw SUFC fans getting sucked into the hype with "we are Premier League" chants and proclamations of reaching the "promised land" it shows how much glossy advertising can mask reality, football fans should oppose the Premier League with every fibre of their being if they want the game to survive.

Marvellous how the PL top teams want the FA cup matches reduced yet are not complaining about EUFA reformatting their competitions which means more games.

Next season will see men's European club football expand further, with an additional 177 fixtures across Uefa's three major tournaments - and with that comes an increasing impact on the planet.

From the 2024/25 season, teams in the UEFA Champions League will play more games. The format has changed, and here’s what you need to know:

  1. Increased Participation: Instead of the previous 32 teams, 36 clubs will now participate in the Champions League league phase (formerly known as the group stage). This means four additional teams will have the opportunity to compete against the best clubs in Europe12.

  2. New League Phase: In the new format, teams will play eight matches during the league phase. Unlike before, where they faced three opponents twice (home and away), they will now play fixtures against eight different teams. Half of these matches will be at home, and the other half away1.

  3. Seeding Pots: Initially, the teams will be ranked into four seeding pots. Each team will then be drawn to play two opponents from each pot, resulting in a total of eight different opponents. This change allows clubs to test themselves against a wider range of opponents and increases the possibility of top teams facing each other earlier in the competition1.

What a rotten decision to further devalue the FA Cup and rob football fans of clubs outside the elite  few of the matches that bring excitement and revenue to their clubs.

The sooner that these elite club create their Super League and competitions the better for the rest of football.

The FA Cup as always been a financial lifeline for many lower league clubs.
It's about time those running football were reminded that the game wasn't invented in 1992.
