You need a bank loan to buy owt from most chippies these days, I make my own,  as long as you get the batter right your on to a winner, plain flour and bit of salt and pepper,  then jobs a gooden and far cheaper.  :hihi:

Can't remember last time I visited a Chippy..

Birds eye, or Youngs fish fillets from Iceland, Aunt Bessies frozen oven chips, some onion rings, and a dollop of BBQ sauce on em.

Cheap as chips..

I fully agree with both the above, but just occasionally a take away treat refreshes the parts that home cooking can’t reach.

Yep. Picked up Harry’s battered haddock from Morissons some time back. Very nice indeed, especially as it was yellow stickered!

Still some good ones around, Tony's at Mosborough, Four Lanes at Hillsboro, Auckley Friary in Donny are all very good.

My personal favourite Dawsons in Worksop has sadly closed after the owners retired.

George-a-Green fisheries in Wakefield, considered among the best in Yorkshire.

Cooked in proper beef dripping, lots of people rave about the place.

I was once told "We're having fish and chips for tea" so I excitedly hurried home after work.  Only to be presented with a plate of stuff from the freezer isle.

I damn near left her.

I've been twice to George A Greens and they are very good indeed and reasonably priced.

Yes the price is more important than the taste !

Frymaster down Attercliffe is a traditional chippy that uses beef dripping and the fish and chips taste wonderful but they only open at dinner times
