There is no way I would go to a 3000 seat venue to watch a match , it would leave the majority of spectators too far away from the table. I see the attraction of big venues for darts as the crowd involvement is part of the package. Money talks and as the Chinese players begin to dominate it will surely move to more lucrative locations . Match fixing is the big problem that snooker has and this will only become a bigger problem in future. Sheffield should not waste it's time in trying to keep the event. they could install large magnification glass screens sounds ludicrous eh? chinas already done it Google is your friend

There’s so much that could have been done to build on a fantastic base - but we’ve relied on the tradition and nostalgia for too long and not seen the way all sport is going - only money really matters…. True but a 24k seater arena isnt suitable for snooker, no matter where it is.

Don’t disagree I was just making a point about the criticism of the Manchester project which dwarfs anything we’ve done here.
Baron99
Hope Ronnie O'Sullivan isn't playing today, I wouldn't want him to get any hassle. I passed the Crucible a few hours ago & if he rolls up, he'll have to fight his way through the half dozen middle age fans stood outside. Bless him. Baron99
I see O'Sullivan has been knocked out of the tournament. Well at least now he won't have to worry about fighting his way through half a dozen fans outside the Crucible, 'hampering his way' & we won't have to listen to him moaning about the food & not being treated right because he's 'special'. Bless his little precious heart. Edited May 2 by Baron99
MJ01
I don't know about a bigger venue, looks to me like they need a smaller one Just flicked over & I thought there must be a fire alarm there are so many empty seats
Mkapaka
Just been a great piece on the crucible in the mid session interval. One of our councillors was on talking about the millions of pounds in brings into the city - let’s get some of it spent now and bank them millions for years to come.
