This is much needed and excellent news, particularly for Parsons Cross with a new centre on Wordsworth Ave.  There new centre on Church St in town at the old RBS site.

Sheffield to Welcome New £9.4M Health Hub as Two GP Surgeries Set to Close

 

Two GP surgeries in Sheffield, The Healthcare Surgery on Palgrave Road in Southey Green and Buchanan Road Surgery in Parson Cross, are set to close as part of a plan to replace them with a new £9.4 million health hub.

 

A report to the city council's Finance Committee highlighted the initiative as "transformational," promising a wider range of services available under one roof.

 

This development, funded by NHS England, involves the City Council developing the new hub and subsequently becoming the landlord.

 

The council will lease the building back to the GPs for a 60-year period. This plan is part of a broader £37 million project aimed at restructuring how health services are delivered in Sheffield.

 

It also includes the closure of Burngreave Surgery and Sheffield Medical Centre, with their services relocating to new facilities.
 

Additionally, two other practices on Mulberry Street are planned to be replaced by a new city center GP surgery in the former Royal Bank of Scotland building on Church Street.

The new facility on Wordsworth Avenue, serving the Parson Cross and Southey areas, is the first segment of this project to receive approval from the finance committee.

 

Completion is expected by 2025. The report to the committee notes that the new hub will address the needs of a growing population, projected to increase from 12,265 to 13,332 by 2041 for the populations currently served by The Healthcare Surgery and Buchanan Road Surgery.

There are regular buses from Pitsmoor to Parsons Cross

It says that Burngreave and Sheffield MCs are moving to " new facilities.". Nowhere does it suggest this is the same "new facilities" they are building at Parson Cross, think a few people could be reading it wrong.

 

Expecting people to go from Pitsmoor to PC would be idiotic and very few would do it.

Isn’t  the GP walk in centre in town going to moved to the Northern General though?  I think the fact is that resources are not unlimited so people have to travel to see a GP.  There’s going to be a new GP hub on Church St too that people from Pitsmoor could use.  But in any case there are regular buses up to Parsons Cross.
