The intended  Conservative candidate  withdrew at short notice shortly before the date for nominations expired. There was not enough time to find a replacement. There will have been no shortage of potential Conservatives for the Rotherham seat if the original candidate had withdrawn earlier.

There would have been numerous Conservative councillors locally, not a good excuse.

They need to go through due process to select a candidate.  There simply wasn't enough time to select a replacement candidate.  It's just one of those things that happen.

Rishi Sunak is the worse main party leader who has led their party into a general election campaign.  Rishi Sunak has thrown all Conservative candidates under the bus by his behaviour.  Going home early from the D-Day events was bad enough but he has made matters worse by going AWOL and leaving other Conservatives to defend the indefensible.

Candidates get appointed from above on many occasions, which many locals complain about.

I recall Jared  O'Mara was selected for the constituency of Sheffield Hallam in an emergency selection process for the snap election. Surely the Conservatives could have done similar.

The Jared O'Mara situation is different to the current Rotherham situation for the Conservatives because as I've explained the original Conservative candidate withdrew too late for a replacement candidate to be selected.  In future selecting a reserve candidate would avoid not have any candidate if a similar situation happened in the future.

She is/was portrayed as a successful entrepreneur, yet her companies were wound down. Maybe she has other companies.

I cannot see what reason was given for her stepping down?
