That has happened to me a couple of years ago, and it was very annoying. 

Like you say, you go to the effort of typing a post then it disappears off the screen.

What you could do is let the moderator know by typing a message in the 'Forum News & Feedback' section of SF.

Why would any polite respectful post, particularly if it contains verifiable links from trusted sources, get someone banned?

Easily on the old Sheffield Forum for just holding a different opinion. Luckily everything seems o'k now, fingers crossed.
