Well looks like the Doctors are getting a better offer , don't think that's bad . I knew they wouldn't get the 30 odd they wanted though

It seems like a reasonable compromise. Roughly 10% a year split over two years.

Details:

The latest government offer is made up of a 4% backdated pay rise for 2023-24, on top of the existing increase worth an average of 9% for the last financial year.

An additional 6% increase is being offered for 2024-25, topped up with an extra £1,000 consolidated payment.

That brings the total over the two years to roughly 22%, on average, for each junior doctor.

It was saying on the radio last night that GPs are balloting to go out on strike.

I thought that's a bit premature....they won't have been in talks with the new Health Secretary at all.

Yea but it's a much more drawn out procedure with the GP's.

You just can't ring a GP to take their ballot, or book a convenient time, you've got to ring up first thing and deal with the dragon on reception.

and if your ballot isn't deemed serious enough, you'll have to wait till tomorrow to try again.

Worry ye not Rachel, for the good old motorist will surely be riding (and driving) to the rescue. She said on LBC just before the election that the motorist is "our friend😍", and we know what that means- one arm round the shoulder, and the other hand in the back pocket!
