As I've pointed out countless times, income tax is the unfairest form of tax because it's progressive, i.e. the more you earn, the more you pay. Income tax cuts give most back to the highest earners. VAT is the unfair establishment form of tax because it's regressive. It takes a higher proportion of the earnings of the lowest paid than the highest paid.

Taxing goods would be the fairest form of tax, but then there would be a black market and people would sell goods and avoid VAT. People selling under-the-counter tobacco being a good example.

So we need to tax both goods and work, but since we have an obesity crisis, taxing processed food and food high in sugar would be a good idea.

Taxing goods at a high level, if people would get them abroad at a lower rate, would be a bad idea.

Tax the super wealthy multi millionaires and billionaires an extra 1%.

It would solve our financial woes, and they wouldn't even miss it.

Lottery winners (rich by good fortune) win £50m + tax free, are slapped on the back by well wishes, champagne corks a poppin, selfies with celebs, smiles and laughs all round. A man/woman risks all, takes a lifetime to build a company, perhaps employs thousands as well as enhancing the economy, is scorned as a rich get and should be levied with punitive taxes. Funny old world, isn't it?

You've hit the nail on the head. If someone achieves great wealth by hard work they are frowned upon by certain people.  In some circles a lottery winner has more prestige than someone who has worked their fingers to the bone to achieve the same wealth.

Do you two individuals have a problem with new blood engaging in the discussions?   What did Westy do to you two to make you both so scared of a newcomer joining and contributing in the discussions?

No answer then.  I suggest you forget about Westy and make relevant comments about the topic being discussed.

Do you think the new Labour government's honeymoon period has already ended?
