I wouldn't mind being a penny behind this guy Lord Ali.   I bet he's glad the Socialist aren't in charge with the wedge he's got.

Latest on the news tonight, Sir Blair Starmer accepted a 6 week freebie at Lord Ali's £18 million, central London penthouse apartment.  The stay was estimated to be worth around £20,000.

Why?  He did it for his son who needed somewhere quiet to revise for his GCSE's as the Starmer house was apparently 'besieged' by journalists.  As you do.  What a good dad he is.

Agreed.

Sir Keir Starmer doesn't care about other good dads who want their children to do well at school by paying for private education otherwise it wouldn't be charging them VAT.

The money used from the VAT charge on private education will go to pay for circa 6,000 teachers which will also help the children of good Dads.

Do SF a favour J and succinctly educate us about this. What are tax funds and why aren’t they ring-fenced?

OK, just for the simpletons on here - all taxes are put into a big 'pot' - the Treasury - and the government decides what to spend them on. There aren't safes marked 'Education' 'NHS'  'Teachers salaries'...

That’s very derogatory, I expected a succinct layman’s type response.

For the even more simpletons. If the exchequer receives roughly £1.5 Bn extra  in tax, by removing a tax break for the privileged, it can afford 6000 extra teachers for everyone else.

I think that wealthy people should pay their taxes.

Do you disagree?

I assumed you were reasonably intelligent, so gave an answer a reasonably intelligent person would understand, whilst aiming at the lowest common denominator.

Providing it decided to spend that assumed 1.5Bn. extra on the teachers, and not other projects.

Yes agreed, and given they've been very specific about the numbers of extra teachers they want then people can see if the money has been spent on extra staff.
