I don't know @hackey lad - maybe it is because Labour have suddenly gone very quiet, no doubt while they  try and repair some of the damage caused by their recent 'mistakes'.

I personally think the topic need re-titling to remove the reference to ''General Election 2024' and the now pointless 'poll', but that is only my opinion -  others may differ.

No , leave the poll as a reminder to them . Apparently Ten thousand more kids are in poverty Since Labour took power .

Sorry no links .

As I said, it was only my opinion, and to be honest I don't think Keir Starmer reads SF. 😉

Here you go, link for you (and others), much easier from a PC (and probably MAC too)
10,000 more children fell into poverty since Labour came to power    Indy
The Government has said it cannot ditch the policy due to economic reasons.

Some 10,000 children have fallen into poverty as a result of the two-child limit since Labour took office, according to analysis by a charity which insisted the policy “must be abolished”.

The Government has repeatedly stated that it cannot scrap the controversial welfare policy due to the state of the public finances but has continued to face pressure to do so from campaigners as well as some of its own MPs.

As Parliament returns on Monday, following a break for political party conferences, the Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) said its analysis “shows 10,000 children have been pulled into poverty by the two-child limit since the Government took office” in early July.

What is the two-child benefit limit and how does it impact families? Big Issue Aug 2024
The two-child benefit cap is a controversial policy which was introduced by the Conservatives.

Here's everything you need to know about the policy – including who it impacts and how it works

Charities have long called for an end to the two-child limit on benefits, which is believed to be trapping hundreds of thousands of children in poverty.

There are 4.3 million children living in poverty in the UK.

Many are going hungry and living in cold and damp homes, or going to school without the proper uniforms because their families cannot afford it.

The Labour government has pledged to reduce child poverty in the UK and has established a child poverty taskforce committed to this mission, but it is yet to scrap the two-child limit on benefits in spite of evidence that it could immediately lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty.

Boris Johnson has hit the nail on the head by saying that Sir Keir Starmer is corrupt because he took donations from Lord Ali and then gave him a Downing Street pass.

Boris is more likely to hit his head on a nail.

As we approach 100 days of Labour in power the lack of achievement of 10 years plus  of Tory sleaze, jobs for the boys ever increasing inequalities can be conveniently forgotten.

The juggernaut of damaging Tory policies was never going to be stemmed over months never mind days.

Had the Tories clung on to power they could not have done much to put right what many in their Party admit went wrong over the last few years either .In fact they are still in disarray until such time as they can find a leader to unite them

So let’s see what the next couple of years bring.

It took pin up girl Margaret Thatcher a couple of years to get a grip on the job and Starmer walks in to a bigger messs than she inherited.

Why all the talk about Farage ? Is it to divert attention away from Labour ?

Each party used to have its own thread on here, however since that went by the way by, the moderator said all party political posts are to go in here. So there you go.

I put it in because it's worthy of discussion. Farage fights like cat & dog to get elected to the HoC, he succeeds on the 8th time of trying, he hasn't since his win held a constituency surgery because 'he was advised against it', Speakers Office deny this, he then confirms this that he's a liar

Just ask yourself Hacks - if a prominent Labour MP had done this how do you think the press would respond.

I'm quite happy to talk about Labour. The last time they were in Government public debt was over half of what it is now; NHS had highest level of public satisfaction and homelessness was a fraction of what it is now.

3 months into office and as RJRB said they've got a shocking inheritance, worse than the Tories had in 2010, and the Tories never shut up about that stupid note until the day of the last election

Ok , apologies . It’s all going well and to plan . Look at the great things they’ve done already  .
