Angela Rayner says as a kid she had to wait for her school dinner for her first food of the day . Why ?

I know that her Mum had manic depression, and Angela was a carer for her. I would bet that there wasn't much money coming into the house. I think I read to she has younger siblings, so she would've had to look after them as well, so perhaps any spare money went to feeding them instead of Angela.

I know from a relative of mine who had manic depression, mania is often associated with spending money regardless.

It's a terrible illness

probably not, when I was kid most of my meals came from being around friends houses and nextdoor neighbors when there's no food in the house there's no Food at all,  not everyone gets functioning parents back in the days of the fortnightly giro.
